The weather outside was cold on November 18th, but there was good cheer and warmth inside the brand-new Comfort Suites Cottage Grove (1607 Landmark Drive) all day for its grand opening festivities.
The fun started in the morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by Greywolf Partners, Inc. The construction of the hotel, the first-ever in the Village of Cottage Grove, involved many collaborations and partnerships, and several of the key members for the project were in attendance.
Consolidated Construction Co. Inc., out of Appleton, WI, was the primary contractor on the project. Several members of the company were in attendance and Kevin Duffy praised everyone involved for overcoming the complexities of the project, especially during a pandemic.
Village of Cottage Grove President John Williams also spoke about the importance of the hotel and how it will impact the growth of the community.
S&L Hospitality, based in Verona, WI, is both an investor in the hotel and responsible for its daily operations. Eric Lund, founder of S&L Hospitality, emphasized the importance of quality people involved in both the planning and operations of the hotel. Lund then introduced the general manager of the hotel, Kara Aaberg.
The final speaker during the program was Joe Wagner, CEO of Greywolf Partners, Inc., the developer of the Comfort Suites Cottage Grove. “They say it takes a village, and we literally had a village, and then some, in order to get this hotel done,” said Wagner. “It was not easy, but we are so proud to bring the first hotel to Cottage Grove. I think it is a beautiful property,” added Wagner.
Following the program, Wagner and other community leaders and partners joined members of the Village of Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce to cut a ribbon to officially signify the opening of the Comfort Suites Cottage Grove.
During the evening, S&L Hospitality hosted an Open House, welcoming the public to view the hotel. Visitors were treated to refreshments and had the opportunity to tour the entire property, including both king and double suites, meeting rooms, the pool and hot tub area, fitness room, meeting rooms, and the breakfast area. After taking a tour, visitors were encouraged to register to win a free Weekend Getaway Package.
